In the Jones Family, we do love Dr. Seuss! All of us grew up reading the stories. One of the stories even inspired me to start our business. We always like to celebrate Dr. Suess’ birthday each year.
Here are our favorite ways to celebrate:
#5 – Green Eggs and Ham for Breakfast
One of the classics is Green Eggs and Ham! It is always fun to wake up with the kids and make Green Eggs and Ham. It is more fun to create this recipe than eating it. Here is a link to download two different recipes for Green Eggs and Ham. I do not like them Sam-I-Am, but the kids do!
#4 – Wear a “Cat in the Hat” Hat
Most kids love the book Cat in the Hat. That crazy cat gets into so much trouble! On the birthday for Dr. Seuss, the kids get excited to wear that striped hat around town. You can buy your own striped hat for just a few dollars at Party City.
#3 – Read “Oh, The Places You’ll Go”
This book was an inspiration for me in college. It continued to be an inspiration as I started our business and continues today to be that “spark” that makes me want to grow as a mom, wife, and business owner. I like to read this book often. It is my best motivation!
One of my favorite quotes in this book is “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And you are the one who’ll decide where to go…”
#2 – Watch Cat in the Hat
Grab a bag of popcorn and plop on the couch to watch the live action version of Cat in the Hat. I think Mike Myers is a riot in this movie. He is so funny! It is one of those movies that the kids and parents both enjoy. Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with a family night watching Cat in the Hat.
#1 – Go to Universal’s Islands of Adventure
If you live near Orlando, the ultimate way to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday is by heading over to Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Inside Islands of Adventure is Seuss Landing! This whole island is themed after Dr. Seuss stories and characters. You can ride Caro-Seuss-El (carousel), get wet on One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, or get into trouble on the Cat in the Hat ride.
These are our favorite ways to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with the Jones Family. How do you like to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday? Leave a comment and share your fun!
