The Jones family embarks on a California adventure, this week beginning in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. Often shortened to just Carmel, you will find a European-style community on the northern shores of the California coastline. Artists and celebrities live in and visit Carmel, regularly. You can walk to almost any destination in town, bonfires are allowed on the beach, and the food was unbelievable!
We stayed at the Hofsas House, a family-owned and operated hotel that was one of the first in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Known for their Dutch doors, their spacious rooms, and their mural as you enter the parking lot.
As well, Hofsas House has spectacular views of the Pacific, right from your room!
While in Carmel, we had the opportunity to try some amazing food at two local restaurants; Mundaka and Fandango. Mundaka is a Spanish-style tapas restaurant in the heart of Carmel. The food was AMAZING! Lots of different flavors and food experiences, with a Spanish guitar player for background music.
Fandango sits nicely between Carmel and Monterey and offers a family-owned restaurant featuring a Mediterranean menu. The food and service were excellent!
We spent our one full day in Carmel by exploring the northern coast of California. Big Sur, Monterey coast, rocks, seals, and more!
We ended our time in Carmel with a wonderful fire on the beach. It was a bit chilly and windy, but we had a ton of fun, anyway!
