Updated November 4, 2021 ~ With the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, many guests staying at the Disney Hotels or Orlando area hotels want to spend a day at Universal Orlando Resort. Disney does not provide transportation to Universal Studios from the Disney Hotels, so how do you get from Disney to Universal Studios?

FREE Early Park Admission to Universal Orlando when you book with us! 🤩 Book your Universal Orlando Tickets + Shuttle Transfers today! Call or text Siera Duiser, at 734-771-1290 or email her at siera@destinationsinflorida.com

Our friend and fellow YouTuber Robin & Penny Show asked me this same question for her own vacation. There are several ways to get from the Disney Hotels and the Orlando area hotels to Universal Studios. We share the best ways with you.

Universal Orlando Park to Park Tickets with Shuttle Transfers

FREE Early Park Admission

Before I jump into this ticket, how would you like VIP treatment at Universal Orlando? How would you like to get into the park one hour before the gates open to the general public? Yes and yes!

Every time I get the service called Early Park Admission, I feel like a VIP! You can only get this freebie when you stay at a Universal Orlando Hotel OR if you book with an exclusive partner with Universal Orlando (like our partner Siera Duiser at Destinations in Florida). It is a huge timesaver during your Universal vacation.

Park to Park Tickets with Shuttle Transfers

Let’s jump into one of my favorite recommendations for getting from Disney or Orlando Hotels to Universal Orlando Resort. This ticket is called the 1-Day or 2 Day Park to Park tickets. This ticket includes access to both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure for one or two days. It includes the FREE Early Park Admission (I was just talking about).

It also includes shuttle transfers from Disney Hotels and Orlando Area Hotels run by the #1 transportation company in Orlando called Mears Transportation.

Here are three reasons why we love this ticket:

  • You save $10 per person with special pre-order discount prices
  • Save time waiting in long lines at the gate to buy your Universal Orlando tickets. This can easily save you up to an hour!
  • FREE Early Park Admission where you get into the park an hour before the gates open to play on your favorite rides

Book Your Tickets

If you are ready to book your tickets, call or text Siera at 734-771-1290 or email her at siera AT destinationsinflorida.com. Be sure you tell her Jones Family Travels sent you.

If you are still planning your trip, be sure save this page. There are only a handful of travel agencies that offer the Free Early Park Admission. You cannot even get that perk with Universal Orlando directly. Make sure you save this page for future reference.

Renting a Car

Another transportation option is renting a car. Disney World has an Alamo Office right in the middle of the resort at the Walt Disney World Resort Car Care Center. You can rent a car for the day and head to Universal Studios.

Be sure to add parking at your Disney World and Universal Studios into your budget. Both your Disney Resort and Universal Orlando charge parking fees. This cost can be $50 or more!

If you are only renting the car for a day, Alamo will pick you up at your Disney Resort and take you to their office. That will save you some cost in your Disney Resort parking fee. After your day, they will also take you back to your Disney Resort. So, you don’t have to worry about transportation from your Disney Hotel to the Alamo Office. Keep in mind you will have to pay for parking at Universal Orlando Resort.

Take a Taxi

If you are not a planner, you may just want to take a taxi for your transportation. You can always catch a taxi outside your Disney Hotel or you can call 407-699-9999 to get a taxi. The price is right around $45-60 each way plus tip for a taxi from the Disney Hotels to Universal Studios.

Getting a taxi to Universal Orlando is pretty easy. If you are planning on closing down a Universal Park, getting a taxi will be much tougher. You will have a much longer wait, sometimes up to an hour.

Uber/Lyft

If you like technology and are not a planner, you may want to just order an Uber or Lyft. This one is actually my least favorite ways to get to Universal Orlando. It other cities, I love Uber or Lyft. However, in Orlando it is not always the best. Sometimes Uber or Lyft have long waits. The other big issue in Orlando is getting an Uber or Lyft. Many drivers will not come to your hotel. We have heard of many issues where Uber or Lyft driver will refuse to come to a Disney Springs Hotels or Disney World Resorts. Keep this in mind if you want to reserve a last minute Uber or Lyft.

These are the ways to get from the Disney World & Orlando area hotels to Universal Orlando Resort. We hope this helps plan your Universal Orlando family vacation. To help plan your family vacation to Universal, check out our playlist of Universal Orlando videos.
