Yesterday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis suspended all local emergency orders and all pandemic restrictions for the state. For Disney and Florida travel fans, this immediately begged the question, what does this mean for Disney World?

(CLICK HERE to view the complete Executive Order suspending all remaining local government mandates and restrictions based on the COVID-19 State of Emergency.)

The Florida Governor said his administration wants people to “enjoy themselves” and “live freely in the state of Florida.”

Disney World Responds to Lifting All Pandemic Restrictions

Of course, the executive orders from Governor DeSantis stirred up the Disney community, asking how Disney World would respond to all pandemic restrictions being lifted. Would they still have to social distance, wear masks, or would Disney World finally increase their capacity limits?

Disney quickly responded to the orders and the clamoring from the Disney community in the My Disney Experience app.

Important Information

We are aware of the state of Florida’s plans announced today to modify COVID-19 guidelines. We will evaluate this latest guidance and maintain our current health and safety measures at this time, including face-covering requirements. We will continue to make thoughtful adjustments to our policy. As COVID-19 vaccines become more available, we encourage people to get vaccinated.

The State of Florida allowed Disney World to operate at higher capacities since September of 2020 and to eliminate all other pandemic restrictions from the Disney theme parks and Disney resorts. As a private company, Disney decided not to relax any restrictions or capacity limits, as yet.

As you can read in the notice from My Disney Experience, Disney World will evaluate the latest orders while maintaining all current health and safety measures (pandemic restrictions) on Disney property.

When guests click the “Learn More” option at the bottom of the above notice, they get a more detailed look at the rules and regulations currently in place at the Parks.

Disney always places a very high priority on Guest and Cast Member safety. In fact, during Cast Member training, safety is the number one priority. As such, we expect Disney will maintain all current pandemic restrictions even after reviewing the Governor’s new executive orders. The one change we expect may occur would be to increase park capacities to accommodate more Guests. To be clear, this is only our opinion and not an official statement from Disney.

For now, Disney will continue to ensure that all Guests staying at a Disney Resort, or enjoying Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Blizzard Beach, and Disney Springs, are experiencing a safe and magical visit.

Do you think Disney World should return to normal, pre-pandemic operations, or should Disney wait a while longer before making more changes? Let us know in the comments.
