The first “foodie” stop on our epic family travel adventure was Hulas Grill in Diamondhead, Mississippi just outside New Orleans and Louisiana.

We found it using the Yelp app, as we’ve done for most of this road trip when looking for a place to eat.  The reviews were mixed, but there wasn’t much else nearby and everyone said the view was great.  We’ll let you decide.

Hula’s Grill Review

The restaurant is upstairs, with the bar below.  Live music echoed from the bar as we climbed the steps to the restaurant.  Allison wanted to sit outside for the view and beautiful weather, but I was concerned about the music interrupting our dinner.  Clearly, Allison won out. 🙂  Fortunately, the music volume was perfect and the view was spectacular.  Even the kids enjoyed it!

The food was good.  We both got the Hula burger that’s like a cheeseburger with a pineapple and we enjoyed it…..once we got it.  This place was definitely on “island time,” with some confusion as to who was actually serving us.  This made for a pretty long dinner after a pretty long day of driving.  It pushed our arrival in New Orleans back a bit, but it provided a nice break from driving.
