Top Things to Do at Volcano Bay
Reserve a Ride with Tapu Tapu
The first thing to make our list is reserve rides using Tapu Tapu. When you arrive at the turnstiles at Volcano Bay Water Park you are given a free band called Tapu Tapu. This is a wristband that you will wear during your day at Volcano Bay. One of the coolest features of the Tapu Tapu is reserving wait times for rides.
You will tap your Tapu Tapu on the attraction you want to ride. It will virtually hold your place in line. You will then get a notification on your Tapu Tapu when it is time to go back to the attraction and ride. You can ride another attraction, enjoy the wave pool, or grab an ice cream while you wait. We love this amazing timesaver!
Play with Tapu Tapu
Another feature of Tapu Tapu is the play experiences throughout Volcano Bay. By taping your Tapu Tapu throughout the water park you can create streams of water in Runamukka Reef, shoot water cannons at guests in the lazy river, or illuminate images in the volcano’s hidden caves. Your kids will love running around the park finding the play experiences.
Krakatau Aqua Coaster

The most popular water ride at Volcano Bay is Krakatau Aqua Coaster. This is a four person water roller coaster. You are seated in a Polynesian canoe. You will slide upward through the mists and into the dark twists and turns within the volcano. You will end with a plunge through a shimmering waterfall. This ride will have your entire family screaming and laughing.
Waturi Beach
In between rides, your family may want to enjoy Waturi Beach. You will get an amazing view of Krakatau which is the mighty volcano at Volcano Bay. Waturi Beach is the perfect spot to soak up the sun or catch the waves. Be sure your kids walk around Waturi Beach to find all of the Tapu Tapu play experiences. There are a lot of them around this beach area.

Runamukka Reef and Tot Tiki Reef
If you have little ones in your family, they will love the Runamukka Reef and Tot Tiki Reef. This huge splash area for younger ones is filled with water fun. Kids can ride mini slides, splash around a water volcano, and get sprayed with water from a family of friendly tikis. There are lots of Tapu Tapu play experiences throughout this splash area, too. Even our teens love to wander around this section finding all of the fun!
Kopiko Wai Winding River
If you are looking for a lazy river, grab a tube and relax on the Kopiko Wai Winding River. This lazy river winds throughout Volcano Bay with tropical landscape, sprays of water, and even a Stargazer’s Cavern. We love this lazy river! We normally ride it 2-3 times throughout our day at Volcano Bay.
TeAwa The Fearless River
If you want to take the lazy river to the next level, grab a life jacket and hop into TeAwa The Fearless River. This fast moving “lazy river” races throughout Volcano Bay and even underneath the volcano. It is a thrilling whitewater river adventure for the whole family.
Ohyah & Ohno Drop Slides
Two of our favorite rides at Volcano Bay at Ohno and Ohyah. These slides remind me of Hawaii cliffs. You climb the cliffs and brave the rope bridge to get to the top of these slides. You then hop on Ohno or Ohyay and twist and turn down the slide dropping 4-6 feet into the water. These slides are for strong swimmers with a 10 foot pool at the end of the slide. It will have you yelling Ohno and Ohyah!
Food at Volcano Bay
Another top thing to do at Volcano Bay is eat! The dining options at Volcano Bay are unlike any I have found in a theme park, let alone a water park. From a taco stand to sushi you can literally eat your way around Volcano Bay. With 60 unique dining offerings you are sure to find some delicious treats during your day at Volcano Bay.
To make your dining experience easier, be sure you add your Tapu Tapu to your Universal Orlando app. You can tap your band at any dining location to charge your meal, drink, or snack right to your credit card on file in the Universal Orlando app.
Water is Life. Life is Joy. That is the mantra by which the fabled Waturi islanders have lived on their Pacific isle for centuries. Discover the legends of the Waturi and share their joy and carefree lifestyle at Universal’s Volcano Bay.
