Disney World’s live entertainment is some of the best you’ll ever see at theme park. In some cases, it’s arguable some of the best you’ll ever see anywhere!
That said, every vacation has limited time and you’ll want to spend it watching the best of the best. So, here are a few that you can skip on your next Disney World trip.
Magic Kingdom
Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It! Street Party
This is a little bit like a parade, but is really more of a dance party. The characters come down main street riding on giant gift box-shaped floats, which then park in the circle in font of Cinderella Castle. Some of the characters come out into the street and dance with guests along with the stilt walkers and other parade performers.
It is fun to shake a tail feature with Disney friends, but if you have to make a choice, Festival of Fantasy is the Magic Kingdom parade to see.
Epcot
The British Revolution
Epcot’s World Showcase has a variety of musical acts and other types of performances that you can’t easily find anywhere else such as a spirited, authentic Mariachi band, a vibrant acrobatic troupe visiting from China, and even Taiko, a time-honored form of drumming from Japan.
There are many choices for unique, cultural entertainment available. That means the competition is tough and, unfortunately, The British Revolution doesn’t make the cut. This rock and roll foursome covers a variety of English favorites from The Who, Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and more. Don’t get us wrong, they are great, but the other more unique experiences edge out this cover band.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Voyage of The Little Mermaid
This show takes Ariel from under the sea onto the stage. It’s a 17-minute performance featuring some of the most unforgettable moments from The Little Mermaid film. Using large and colorful puppets, live performers, special effects and movie clips, Ariel’s tale is told. Unless you have a mermaid-lover in your party, you can skip this one. It could use a refurb and a warning that you may get wet from the mist and water effects.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Rivers of Light
A newer show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Rivers of Light is an exquisitely beautiful performance that takes place on the waterfront with glowing lanterns and floats and triumphant music. The story is about the magic of nature and being one with it. Rivers of Light is truly a work of art, but it’s not a guest favorite. If this description seems appealing, by all means, see it! But with no Disney characters and the sophisticated theme, little ones may have a difficult time understanding and relating. If you have to make a choice between this and something else, we say skip it.
It’s difficult to deem any of the acts the “worst” because they are all still quite good. But when you have limited time, you’ve got to make a choice when planning your vacation to-do list.
