Review: Aloft San Antonio

More comfort, more convenience, and less “hipness” made the Aloft San Antonio a much nicer stay than it’s cousin, the Aloft Houston by the Galleria.

The Aloft San Antonio lies near the San Antonio airport and within walking distance of a Target and many dining options.  Although part of the Aloft series of hotels from Starwood, the San Antonio Aloft felt much more welcoming to a family than the Aloft Houston.  Maybe it was the larger lobby, the families in the pool, or the fact that we could self-park right outside the hotel.  Regardless, our family felt much more comfortable for our two night stay in this hotel.

If you were plopped down into the rooms at Aloft San Antonio and Aloft Houston, you wouldn’t be able to tell the two apart.  As these are the only Aloft hotels we visited during our road trip, we’re assuming they’re all very similar.  Comfortable and modern with young business travelers in mind.

We enjoyed walking to the shopping center, next door to the Aloft San Antonio to get our dinners each night at Jim’s Restaurant and Smashburger.  We also made a visit to Schlitterbahn and other San Antonio locations, as the hotel provides very easy access to the highway and local attractions.

Of course, as with all Starwood properties, pets were welcome and some other guests had their dogs with them.  This delighted our daughter, as she was missing her own puppy at home.

I will definitely be looking at the Aloft San Antonio for my next hunting trip to the Texas Hill Country and maybe just for a fun visit to all that San Antonio has to offer.
